For nurses, it is of the utmost importance that they can stand up for a long time at work. Because if you are finding yourself working 6 days a week and 12 hours a day, then you’ll realize you’re going to need some really great support in order to keep up those gruesome working hours that your nursing job demands from you.

Standing up for a long time is always going to play hell on you. Especially if you are standing on non supportive footwear. For that reason, you’ll have to make sure that you are investing in a pair of decent shoes. Or clogs, in this case. No less than 33% of nurses in the US are said to suffer from back pain and foot pain. There’s no need for you to be among those 33%. As a matter of fact, I’d rather see you standing up comfortably. Call me crazy, but I  like to take care of readers of the Boot Bomb.

Some nurses like to wear sneakers, because it makes them light on their feet. Other nurses would rather enjoy the protective encasing of a decent clog. And for those nurses, today I am reviewing Dansko’s professional nursing clog. It’s as comfortable as it is pretty, so let’s have a look at it to see if it’s a good shoe for you.

Dansko Women’s Professional Nursing Clog – Reviewed

This all leather, imported clog is one of Dansko’s most famous and highly revered clogs. Thanks to the synthetic sole, you’ll be standing firmly for a long time. Just look at how thick it is. There’s no way you’re going to wear that puppy out with in the year. You could run around the block in these clogs daily, and they’d still last you a long time. The soles are made of polyurethane. They have a rocker boottom for extra shock absorption and propelling your foot forward, which adds to your comfort.

Speaking of comfort… Dansko has designed this clog with comfort in mind. They have a very roomy toe box, so that you can wiggle your toes whenever you feel like it. It’s a liberating feeling when your shoes aren’t completely constricting you, isn’t it? Thanks to its wide toe box, this is a great nursing shoe for wide feet. The toe box is also reinforced, making it super sturdy and capable of taking a few blows here and there.

The instep collar is padded, in order to further increase the comfort of an already very comfortable nursing clog.

If you want to maintain these clogs, all you have to do is use a damp cloth, which is soapy, to clean of any surface dirt. A sponge would work well too. However, you need to make sure that you do not saturate the leather, as this will have the opposite effect of what you are trying to achieve. If the clog ever develops scuff marks here and there, then you can touch these up with ordinary shoe polish.

This professional clog is loved by millions of nurses all around the US. It’s been made with all day standing comfort in mind. These clogs are APMA accepted, which means that a team of professional podiatric people have determined that this shoe is beneficial to the health of your foot. Follow the link to read up on how impressive APMA acceptance truly is. At this price, it’s hard to go wrong with a clog like this. Not only will you be the most comfortably standing nurse in the whole darn hospital, you’ll also be the prettiest one. Because look at the pattern. You can’t beat that.

One thing you do need to keep in mind is that these Dansko professional nursing clogs are handmade, meaning that not all of them are going to give you the exact same fit. For some people, it’s kind of a crapshoot. When you receive them, it helps to do a kick test, where you pretend to kick something while you are wearing them. When you kick, they are supposed to stay on your feet. If they come flying off, make sure they don’t fly too far, because you’ll need to return them.

For this reason, it helps to make sure that the style you’ve chosen has free return shipping, otherwise you might end up being disappointed. But if you just so happen to be among the lucky ones to receive a pair that fits really well right off the bat, then you’ll be in clog heaven for the coming years. These clogs are built to last, both durability as well as comfort wise.
